In all the years I've never seen an aurora with such intense pulsations. At times it was like looking at an out-of-control wildfire. I think at one point the aurora could be seen down to 15 degrees off the southern horizon.

While we were clouded out for the last big aurora a few days back, the skies cleared over Arizona last night, and the entire northern sky was ablaze with a cherry red glow, easily seen naked eye. What a great feeeling so late in the solar cycle! (Ps Tony: hey, now you can say the northern lights was seen as far south as central Arizona ;))

Auroras from Alaska ? No ! But it's as if I was there. All around, the sky was inflamed. It was unbelievable !!

Kodak Easyshare dx-6490, 800asa, wide open, and 16 sec exposures, the max the camera's got- At 11:15 for about 10 minutes it was extremely bright and casting a slight shadow, we were screaming like crazy when it was happening!!!

In spite of the high light pollution, these images show more or less the beautifull show we saw yesterday in Akron. First aurora for me... I'm hooked now.

Being Chicago Cubs fans we know what it means to stick around until the miracle happens. My wife, daughter, sister and I kept vigil from 20:00 until 23:00 and our patience paid off. We get excited viewing any level of Aurora activity. We all agree that what we saw was indeed beautiful and a blessing. This was my first image attempt. I used a Canon Power Shot Pro set at ISO 400, f2.8 and 30 second exposures. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our happy evening!

Although I knew that an auroral storm was in progress I never expected to see it observing from within the light polluted Melbourne metropolitan area (pop 3.5 million). A distinct glow to the S produced a shortlived display of beams in front of the Southern Cross and The Pointers. Then the clouds rolled in! Nikon CoolPix 4500 digital camera, 20s exposure @ 400ASA.

Minolta Dynax 7000i, 800 ASA film, exposure roughly 40 seconds. It was a very dark and quite clear night but a very faint green tinge could be seen - the very first Aurora I have seen in the UK (living so far south) There was some cloud in the photo and this reflected the streetlights (below aurora and to right hand side) Question: Is the red tinge above the green also aurora?

The shot with 2 photos in it was 4 seconds long - the others were all at 2.5 seconds!! I had to speed it up because it was too bright and moving too fast. Done with a Nikon D70, 18-70mm lens, 800 ASA, f/3.5.

As I was heading out to work, I grabbed my Canon 10-D... just in case. I noticed a green glow in the north, and decided to grab a few shot's. The clouds and light pollution were terrible, but I caught a couple ok images.
