Amazing Night to say the least! Despite very cold temperatures and gusty winds I survived the night and brought back these images. It was an absolutely stunning sky show as expected! It's great to pick up so many stars with the moon out. I wish it was like this every night! It feels great to be a part of this rare event! Nikon D3, 800 ISO

Can it get any prettier? Can it get any colder? My hands and body were numb from a five hour stint outdoors photographing the winter solstice lunar eclipse this morning. This 5 second, ASA 400, image was taken with an 8-inch, F/4 Meade Schmidt-Newtonian reflector several minutes before totality ended. A Canon 60D captured the reddened prime focus moon.

It has been cloudy/snow for the last 5 nights, but miraculously clouds disappeared just in time for the TLE. Aurora was dancing at the Northern sky while eclipse was happening. What a night! Canon EOS 5D MarkII and 500D. Sigma 8/3.5, EF 15/2.8, and EF 24/1.4L II lenses.
