After much rain, the skies cleared just in time for us to see a stunning total lunar eclipse. This view, from the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii's Big Island, shows the coppery-red totally eclipsed Moon and some of the waning phases in the early morning.

In Italy this eclipse was nearly invisible: the Moon rised near the end of the partial phase. These images show the Moon rising over my home town, Tradate, near Milan, Italy. Photo details: Canon 350D, 200 mm f/11, 400 ISO, time (and exp): 17.01 (1,3 s), 17.03 (1/2 s), 17.10 (2,5 s).

from The Netherlands only the last part of the lunar eclipse was visible. Low altitudes however give nice opportunities for a nice scenery!
