My friend, Conor McDonald and I, did an aurora watch tonight and were delighted to catch another aurora display from the dark countryside over the Maghera area. The display was faint with a green band 7 degrees high, however there was a higher purple band above this. The highlight was an outburst in the activity when we observed 3 purple beams going up through Auriga and Perseus which are visible on this image above the clouds. Display lasted approx 2 hours.
