Jetty at Howden, near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia
Aurora Australis taken from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Canon 5D 17-40mm F4.0L lens, 30 second exposure at ISO 800. Not long after sunset a friend of mine rang me to ask whether the faint arc of light crossing over the Southern Sky was an Aurora. This is the first time that I have managed to capture the Aurora Australis in the new Sunspot cycle because previous Solar events have either not been stong enough to view at 43 degrees South, or have occured during our daytime or obscured by clouds. Cheers, Ian Stewart
