Just SE of Onaga, Pottawatomie Co., Kansas.
Early this morning was ideal out in Pottawatomie Co., just SE of Onaga, Kansas. Clear skies and the seeing (atmospheric steadiness) was very good. I watched several beautiful Orionid meteors as I set up the EQ mount beneath this autumn Cottonwood tree, and made these two images with 50 and 85mm NIKKOR lenses of comet 103P/Hartley 2 sailing by Earth against a rich starfield in Auriga. Focus and aperture shift during each exposure of 210 and 254 seconds at ISO 800.
