Active Region 1164 Experimental Sketch no 3 Pastel and a craft needle on black paper PST 40 h alpha, 40 mm TVP eyepiece. I observed AR 1164 between 11:45 UT and 12:35 UT the dark sunspots deep in the photosphere were clearly visible amid the dynamic action going on in the chromosphere. The AR was close to the suns limb and I thought I left my self restricted because of that. Just drawing the AR without the limb would have left me free to draw it larger and include more fine detail. Thus the reason for experimenting is of course learning.
