Clear skies during the summer are hard to come by in these parts so even though it was a few days before the peak I took advantage of the breaks in the clouds to photograph the Perseids.

Here are two images showing Perseids passing close to a very bright Jupiter. One image has a second, dimmer, non-Perseid meteor. (Nikon D700, 16mm, f/4.0, ISO 1600, 30s)

Bonus image: earlier in the evening I managed to catch -7 magnitude Iridium flare.
