Sointula, British Columbia
Last night as the sun was setting it was passing through layers of smoke from the hundreds of forest fires burning across British Columbia at the moment. The image of the sun reminded me a little of the cloud bands of Jupiter... of course instead of the Great Red Spot there is sunspot 1092... The video was shot with a Canon 40D DSLR, Canon 70-200mm f4L lens @ 200mm, and tethered to a netbook running the freeware EOS Camera Video Recorder (as the 40D does not have native movie recording). The image was extracted from the video using VirtualDub. The full video is on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Q6SWmxnoc
