I first noticed the NLC's coming up while waiting for Canada Day fireworks to start near my home in Camrose, Alberta. They started out faint and stretching from NW to N about 3-4 degrees up in the sky. Partway through the fireworks they became brighter, higher and wider. Taken with a Canon 60D, IS0 1600, 17 mm F5 0.8 second exposure.
