Just after the sun set, a tall sun pillar appeared over Lake Superior. As we watched it, we could see clouds or maybe ice crystals moving along in the pillar. I also saw one at sunrise, but didn't have the right lens along to zoom in. I feel lucky to have seen two in one day! The harbor shot is from this morning and the close ups are from the evening. Evening shots: Nikon D200, 70-200VR at 135mm, 100 ISO, f/8, 1/20 sec. Morning shot: Nikon D200, 12-24DX at 24mm, ISO 100, f/20, 0.8 sec., 3-stop reverse ND grad filter.
