Details:
Finally, Finally!, After many attempts to spot the comet Pan STARR was recovered from almost downtown Santiago de Chile on March, 3rd 2013. Low over the coastal range and against the twilight brightness. Quite hard to spot even con binoculars (7x50 WA). The comet, circled, was first seen with its neon-like orange-pinkish hue coma at 20:10 local time. Altitude 9 degrees, azimuth 250 degrees. Later the Pan STARR becomes white dull due atmospheric effect.
Picture conditions rotten!. To much, excessive light pollution! city lights, ligh poles, comet too low, strong background light due twilight. Unstable atmosphere, hazy, straw cloudiness..Arghhh!!
Image taken with Cyber-shot DSC HX 100V. ISO 100, f 2.8, 8 seconds.
