Details:
Our small group (Nicole, Marielle, Catalin, Georg and I) started with 2 cars at 02h00am this morning at the Cairns Cable Car station heading inland. No crowds, no jams, no busses, no cars at all.

We arrived at 03h00am at our first scouted place near the Mareeba Coffee Center but very soon it was clear that we had to go farther northwest on the Mulligan Highway. 26km behind Mt. Carbine we found a good place. Still plenty of time to setup all equipment.

We had an unobstructed view to the eclipse from sunrise till 4th contact. Very impressive visual apparent oversized eclipsed sun.

After the eclipse Nicole and I had to drive back soon to catch our flight to Sydney in the afternoon.

Cheers

Joerg
