Flash and coronal spectra of todays total solar eclipse. We can see many lines, especially at second contact because of the favorable orientation of the lunar limb and also the 6374 (red) and 5303 (green) lines of heavily ionized iron in the corona, indicating a temperature of 2 million degrees.


This was an eclipse with just about everything: a wind within 1-2 minutes outside of second and third contacts followed by a dead calm and shadow bands while the wind was blowing.

Nikon D7000, Tamron 80-200/2.8 at 120 mm f/4 1/50 for the flash spectra and 1/8 - 1/4 for the coronal spectra.
