Summary: Solar activity continues to increase after a two-year solar minimum that ranks among the century's deepest. The return of sunspots and a resurgent solar wind is good news for aurora watchers, who are seeing some of the best displays since ~2006. See also March. 2010.

With the last light of the sun fading slowly at Midnight the Aurora was faint in the sky. Then we got a really strong burst for a few seconds and the whole sky light up in a fantastic display over Hovden in the Vesterålen islands. Most of my pictures are taken with my d300 set to 30secs at F4 iso 800 and 12mm Tokina 12-24 lens. It was some thing special with the last light of the day in the background.

With one foot in Sweden and the other in Norway I enjoyed some Aurora Borealis last night. Standing at the border between Norway and Sweden I did some photographing using my Canon 550D and 15mm objective. It was really lovely.
